SoftwareHouse is a Southern California-based reseller of video games, consumer electronics and software. They sell on Amazon.com and on their own websites, robobargains.com, softwareoutlet.com and 5dollarsoftware.com. In October of 2009, they decided to try Fulfillment by Amazon for their Amazon.com orders. “At first, it made sense because it made a lot of our day- to-day inventory management easier,” says COO, Joseph Carone. “But now it’s an important part of running our business. We get customer service support; we don’t have to worry about orders being packaged right, and we get lots of data from our FBA API.
Finding the Right MatchThe SoftwareHouse team had been fulfilling Amazon orders with their own inventory system and warehouse staff. When it was time to find a fulfillment solution, they wanted to work with a partner who would not only do the job, but also treat their customers right. “We were impressed by Amazon’s reputation for providing a good user experience and good customer service,” says Carone. “That’s what our company is about-putting the customer first. Amazon is definitely the best in that.”
Easier Fulfillment and More SalesToday, SoftwareHouse uses FBA to ship almost every product they sell on Amazon.com-and that’s significantly more products than they were selling before FBA. “We started using FBA and immediately saw an increase in our Amazon orders,” says Carone. “People are really attracted to the Amazon brand because they trust it, and Prime and Super Saver Shipping really appeal to people.”
