Optimize Your Ads
Holiday Preparedness - Get Ready for 2009 Holiday Season
Managing all aspects of your business during the holiday season can be time consuming. To help you manage it efficiently, we've put together the following holiday season tips.
Update Account Information, Settings and Policies
- Make sure your contact information in Seller Central is up-to-date.
- Opt in to receive account operation notifications by setting your Notification Preferences in Seller Central. You can specify as many recipients as you like directing the email to the right person in your company.
- Make sure that email from Amazon.com is not being directed to your junk email folder.
Proactively Manage Your Daily Budget and Bids
- If your daily budget is exceeded your offers are removed from Amazon.com and customers will no longer be able to find your products on Amazon.com. Consider increasing your daily budget for the holiday season to make sure your products are always available.
- Set competitive bids to help ensure that your products get maximum exposure and optimal placement on Amazon.com.
Proactively Manage Your Product Ads
- If you have UPCs for your products make sure to include them in your product file. UPCs are the best way to ensure that your items can be found in search and browse as well as targeted placements.
- Make sure you are providing detailed Category and Title information for all your products. This is crucial as our systems rely heavily on those two pieces of data to determine the appropriate category for your products.
- Provide additional attributes beyond the five required fields including multiple images, keywords, bullet points, brand and manufacturer. Additional attributes help improve discovery of your products and better inform customers about your products before they click through to your website.
Avoid Content Violations and Account Suspension
- Ensure your URLs are fully functional and remove any broken links in your feed.
- Make sure that the product titles, prices, and shipping charges that you provide in your feed accurately match those on your website.
- Exclude prohibited content from your upload.
Using Search Keywords to Help Increase Traffic to Your Website
Did you know you can now add up to 5 Search Keywords for each of your products?
Help increase the ways customers can find your unique selection by including relevant search keywords. Keywords are used to help customers find your products as they search and browse through the products available on Amazon.com.
Top Keyword tips:
- Use relevant keywords. Only include keywords that truly relate to the product.
- Do not re-use words in the keywords fields. Repeating a word from the product title in the keyword field will not increase the placement in results.
- Use legitimate alternate spellings and synonyms.

News and Announcements
July Survey Results
In July we sent out a survey request asking you to provide feedback on your experience with Product Ads. We greatly appreciate the time you took to share your feedback with us.
We found that Product Ads does well driving a good return on investment (ROI) listing products was relatively easy and Seller Support email and phone options were especially useful.
When asked about the areas we can improve, the majority of people asked for more control over which category products are placed on Amazon.com, the ability to enable product searches by keyword, and conversion tracking data.
We have since followed up doing phone interviews with 30 sellers to get more insight as to what would make Product Ads a better program and reviewed over 100 Get Technical Support cases to better understand sources of friction.
We have taken this feedback and are working on a range of projects to address your concerns.
- Launched Search Keywords in feeds to help customers find your unique selection to the Amazon.com catalog
- We’ve begun testing new ways of categorization ads
- Started work on SKU-level reporting to provide more detailed click data

Q&A
Everyday our Technical Support team answers questions that are submitted by you. Here's the answer to one of the most commonly asked questions.
Question: I received Seasonal Rate Adjustments notifications from other CPC sites that I advertise with. Will there be a seasonal rate adjustment for my Product Ads listings?
Answer: No, Amazon Product Ads will not be adjusting the cost per click (CPC) prices this holiday shopping season. Consider increasing selection in your Product Ads feeds to take advantage of increased customer demand and our fixed rate card.
