Your Ads in More Places
One of our priorities is to continuously drive additional high quality traffic to your website. This month we are happy to announce that your Product Ads can be seen in more places on Amazon.com.

Customers will now see Product Ads in the right hand column of the Read All Customer Reviews page. Similar to other targeted placements on Amazon.com, products relevant to customer searches will be shown. You do not need to do any additional work for your ads to included in this placement and CPC rates are the same.

Here is an example of the new ad placement:

Don’t Miss a Click with Ref Tags
Do you use an analytics program to track your Product Ads traffic? Make sure your data is accurate by using referral tags.

A ref tag is a piece of code you can add to your existing product URLs and include in your product uploads, for example “src=amazon.” Once this code has been added to your URLs, your analytics program logs the URL including the ref tag. It is an easy way to accurately track the sources of traffic from all of advertising channels.

Implementing ref tags in your product URLs will vary depending on your analytics program. If you use Google Analytics, this Google help page includes a tool to build your URL with a tracking code.

Q&A

Every day our Technical Support team answers questions submitted by you. Here’s the answer to one of the most commonly asked questions.

Q. Why am I receiving the error, “Seller is not authorized to list products in this category”?

A. This error occurs when the product you upload is classified to a category that is either not open to Product Ads or your account has not been approved to sell in that category. Categories needing special approval include: Beauty, Jewelry and Watches and Shoes. If you receive this error, your ad for the product will not appear on Amazon.com.

Depending on the product with the error here are suggested next steps:

If your product is in a category that is... Then...
Not currently open to Product Ads You can keep the item on your file for future uploads, and as we open additional categories your item will go live. However, you will continue to see Error 8026 displayed for this product until the new category is open. If you don't want to get Error 8026, simply remove the products from your file prior to your next upload.
Restricted
(Beauty, Jewelry and Watches, and Shoes)
You can submit a request to advertise in one of our restricted categories by clicking the "Contact Seller Support" link located at the bottom of every page in Seller Central. Click "Product Listings" then "Permissions to list new products."
Currently open to Product Ads You might not be providing enough information to correctly categorize the product. You can help improve categorization by including descriptive category information, detailed product titles and UPCs on your data feed. If you are uploading with a method other than the Product Ads template, find out how you can provide additional information for listing your products using a Yahoo! file, Yahoo! sync or a Google Base file.
Read more about Error 8026 in our Help content. You can also contact us immediately using “Contact Seller Support” link at the bottom of every Seller Central page.
