Holiday Best Practices Reminders

Only a few more weeks left in the busiest shopping season of the year. Here are a few last-minute reminders to help you manage your account during the holidays.

Review your daily budget: This past Cyber Monday, Amazon.com was the most-visited online retail site for the fourth year in a row. Visits increased 44 percent compared to the same day last year, according to Experian Hitwise. Make sure your products are always displayed on site by increasing your daily budget today to accommodate for increased traffic this time of year.

Keep your feed up to date: Remove products from your feed when they have sold out. Don't disappoint customers or pay for non-converting traffic to your website.

Opt in to Notifications: Make sure the correct person in your company is notified when important account events occur. Include at least two e-mail addresses for each notification.

Update your Account Status: Taking a well-deserved break during the holidays? Remember to set your account to inactive to remove your ads from Amazon.com during your vacation.

Driving More Traffic to Your Website

More ad placements: Many of you have said that you want more traffic from Product Ads. This year we have increased the places where customers can see your ads. Today, you can also see targeted Product Ads in the left hand column under Listmania in search results. In the upcoming year we will continue to focus on initiatives to put your ads in more relevant placements to Amazon.com customers.

Images In targeted ad placements: Another change we’ve implemented to drive more traffic to your website is the addition of images to ads in targeted placements. Previously ads in these placements were text only. Today, when provided, we will show your ad with the product image in these targeted placements.

More Ways to Upload Your Product Data

FTP: You asked for an alternative method to manually uploading your feed in Seller Central. In February, we released Amazon FTP (File Transfer Protocol) so you can upload your product information using the Amazon.com server. If your feed is greater than 10MB or if you upload your file more than once per week, we recommend using FTP to submit your data.

Yahoo! Store Upload: This year we created two ways for Yahoo! Store sellers to upload product information to Product Ads accounts. You can sync your Yahoo! Store to Amazon or upload your catalog.xml URL in Seller Central. You can also provide additional custom fields to your Yahoo! Store catalog.xml to improve your products' discoverability and enhance the customer buying experience. Learn more about uploading your Yahoo! Store.

Google Base Upload: Google Base sellers can now upload product information in Seller Central without needing to modify the standard Google Base tab-delimited (.txt) file. Uploading your Google Base product information is made simple. Learn more about uploading your Google feed.

Keeping You Informed

Notifications: We launched e-mail notifications to help you stay up to date on activity involving your Product Ads account. There are two types of e-mails we send: critical and informational. Critical notifications indicate that your account requires immediate attention because your products are unavailable on Amazon.com. Informational notifications are sent for issues dealing with feeds, budget and bids that we encourage you to look at to optimize your account.

Seller Support Blog: The Seller Support blog helps sellers on all Amazon programs keep up to date on news and best practices. Previous Product Ads blog posts announced upcoming webinars, program enhancements, links to view on-demand webinars that you may have missed and much more. If you haven't already bookmarked the blog, do so today.

Webinars: Each month we host a webinar to provide you with more information about Product Ads. Previous topics include Introduction to Product Ads, Holiday Preparedness, and Building Effective Product Ads Feeds. Review our webinar schedule to see what we will be focusing on in the upcoming months.

Improving Help Resources

Revamped Help Table of Contents: We have redesigned the Help Table of Content page to make it easier for you to find the support you need. Find links to help topics in our Getting Started, Products, Bidding and Account Settings sections. On the right side of the page you can quickly access tutorials, contact seller support, read the latest Product Ads news and read popular help topics. Sign in to Seller Central to see our Help.

Improved Contact Seller Support interface: This year we made it easier for you to get support for your Product Ads account. You can access support directly from the “Contact Seller Support” link at the bottom of every page in Seller Central or click on the Contact Seller Support button in Seller Central Help. Browse through different problem categories and click on links to frequently asked questions. If you would like to be contacted directly by our support team, submit an email or select “Click to call” and we'll call you back immediately.

Getting Started tutorial: We launched the Getting Started video tutorial to provide step-by-step instructions on how to create and upload your Product Ads. We also provide practical tips on how to optimize your product information for the best results on Amazon.com.

We’re excited about what's in store for Product Ads, and to keep up with future developments, you can subscribe to the Product Ads newsletter, read the Product Ads Blog, or sign in to Seller Central.
